Meet FACE veterinary partner Dr. Michele Drake (the cute little guy is Wilbur!) of The Drake Center for Veterinary Care in Encinitas, California.
Dr. Drake and her dedicated team are valuable partners in our mission to end economic euthanasia in San Diego County by providing financial assistance to owners of pets in need of life-saving veterinary care.
Dr. Drake worked with FACE on our very first case in which a pet’s cancer treatment was funded with the help of a special grant from the Petco Foundation and Blue Buffalo. Drake Center patient Rico Chase, a 4 year old shepherd mix was being treated for a mast cell tumor. Rico’s family was able to afford needed chemotherapy with funds from the grant.
In addition to being one of our veterinary partners, Dr. Drake is also a sponsor of our annual Bags & Baubles fundraising event and participates in our In-memory program, making donations to FACE in the memory of patients who have passed away.
FACE thanks Dr. Michele Drake and the entire team at The Drake Center for their faithful support!
Dr. Drake seems like an true angel and Wilbur, well there are almost no words to describe his cuteness. ღ
We agree on all counts!
Thank You!
Thank you!!
That is a great system for pet owners, to get help for saving their pet, it is very expensive also here in Finland. I think we don’t have any organisation to help for very sick pets.
Yes, treatment for a serious injury or illness can be too expensive for many pet owners. We want to help save as many of these sick pets as we can!
Thank you for the spotlight & all of the great work that your organization does!
Thanks to everyone at The Drake Center for all the amazing work you do to help pets in need of care!
I know this may be a crazy question, but I am suppose to be going for an interview with the Banfield Pet Hospitals? They are owned by the Mars companies. Do you know anything about them? I did some reading and I wasn’t sure I liked what I saw…. I don’t want to leave the job I have (which I’m not crazy about, but it’s secure), just to go somewhere that is bad…. Thanks for any help you could give me. 🙂
Most of the local vets we work with are either fairly small practices or emergency/specialty practices. Not sure we’d be the best source of information on what it’s like to work for Banfield. Perhaps there are some veterinary forums or message boards you could look into? Good luck to you!
Decided to cancel my interview. Didn’t like what I read on Yelp and yahoo. Thanks!
I’m sure you’ll find the right place soon!
