Doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel are on the front lines of the Coronavirus pandemic. A one-year old yellow Lab named Wynn is providing much-needed emotional comfort for staff at Rose Medical Center in Denver, Colorado.
According to a story on CNN, Wynn’s trainer (who is also a doctor) says that Wynn’s presence is helping staff ground themselves during a time of great stress.
Wynn is available in the hospital’s social work office, and with thorough handwashing and proper social distancing, staff can stop by for a visit with her when needed.
Wynn is from Canine Companions for Independence, a well-known organization that provides free service dogs for people with disabilities.
Oh, I absolutely love this story! Lutheran recently shut down the pet therapy program for the time being. I know the nurses and staff could especially benefit from a dog visit.
Seems like this is a special circumstance, and I’m sure much appreciated by the medical staff!
Therapy dogs are definitely needed these days. Nurses and staff are working especially hard around the Mile High.
And everywhere, it seems…
Wonderful ❤
It is!
Dogs can be such stress relievers! WTG Wynn!
They sure can be…love this story!
